Not to be rude but were Japanese pilots poorly trained or was there something wrong with the way they were trained? 75% of your strike force lost, half of your number being shot down by a dirt airfields aa defense, this is an unfathomably bad performance. We know from the European theatres that American AA wasn't particularly good, just average and their pilots were the same, and this lot was quite below average, as admitted by the post battle report, but they still wiped the floor with those Japanese pilots.

@brucetucker4847 your acting like I think aa guns have never shot down an aircraft, whereas I'm baffled at the kill rate which is 50%-75% which is insanely high, and this was from a group of people that's main critisim after the battle was how shit they were. For example in 1943 in Sciliy Allied airmen flew 42,227 sorties against axis airfields and they lost 250 aircraft, mostly to anti-aircraft fire over Sicily that's a kill ratio of 0.59% against the two army's with the best long range anti aircraft guns in the world (German 88mm and Italian 90mm), I could mention how Kamakaze's often got through entire fleets later on in the war, or how most German and Italian Dive bomber attacks at Sicily were indivdual planes and most were fine i.e. USS Maddox that was sunk by a single JU-87 during the invasion of Sicily.
