What Nigel Farage making something up, nooooo! He's always been so trustworthy, especially when he put things on buses and posters....

@wbertie2604 well yeah because it was an entire fleet against a few planes, that was nothing to do with the aircrafts personally they were actually extremely resilient to gun fire due to what they were made out of and how much lift the wings generated meaning more of it could be shot away and still be flyable.

Also using night attacks, which at the time no other navy on the planet other than the Royal Navy could perform. I.e. Even though the Japanese based Pearl Harbour off Taranto, the Kidō Butai could not perform night attacks.

@GARDENER42 do remember we are talking about Farage here, so it is definitely more than most.

@videodistro not really we just don't know how much was purposefully damaged, but seen as they still had British vehicles running 5 years later (which will have definitely involved canabilising parts mutiple times) and were giving destinations and uniform weapons systems to types, it's safe to assume they captured quite a lot. Which makes sense, the British and French had a lot more important things to do at the time and to save munitions for the possible last stand, rather than on a vehicle.

@wbertie2604 it wasn't venerable to 50.cal's though, no more than normal aircraft. Not just that 50 cal. Was extremely ineffective against Po-2's and nothing of that calibre ever took out a swordfish.

So bascially the British have forced Argentina to buy a better suited aircraft to fight against the British, unlike the T-50.

the Tornado is just as obsolete as the F-15's, also not sure why you are acting like the Torando doesn't have just as comprehensive an upgrade package as the F-15. The Mirage 4000, on the other hand would have had the same treatment as the mirage 2000, so just tiny upgrades as both are much more capable aircraft the F-15

@noodles169 number 1 when did I say it did, just makes it's more likely than if they had T-50's number 2 "chili"...

@noodles169 So the entire point of blocking the T-50 was to make sure the Falklands are more secure, they are now looking at J17's making the Falklands less secure, what do you not understand about that? Next you do realise it's the start of the buildup, they aren't going to only have 14 comat aircraft, remember Chile, they have 45 combat aircraft. This is just the start for Argentina and continuing down this road will mean there eventually airforce will be a much more potent force than a South Korean supplied one due to the limit options. Not just that with the Tories in charge it's doubtfull we will ever have one carrier with a full airwing. So it wouldn't take them much of a build up of J17's too take the island with zero response. Now I don't think Argentina have a good enough reason, but when the entire point of blocking T-50 was to make the Falklands more secure, it's done the opposite. Do you get it now?
