Is this really a problem unique to the CCP or a Chinese problem? The CCP sounds a lot like just modern-day emperors. China has had emperors who were foolish stupid and unwise for thousands of years and has suffered under them for many different reasons many different times. Given that long history, is the “special institutional advantage“ of the CCP really any different? If the CCP is replaced with some of their form of government, I wouldn’t be surprised if the same types of behavior which seem to be so indelibly fixed in the Chinese character doesn’t happen again and again and again and again.

@oldsachem Yeah, I wish you were right. By the way, when are we going to find those weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? I keep listening to the news hoping that they will announce that they have been found and we will know why we went to war in the rock, but so far no luck. How did we get into that war by the way?

@donnydrumpf9563 Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the West has largely moved on from putting all power in a single individual like a King or a Party Secretary. For 2,000, 3,000, or event 5,000 years, China has yet to develop a representative form of government or a legal system with written laws, precedents, and an independent judiciary.
