  1. Right, because Junior High and High school are such awesome places! I was truant a hell of a lot when I was a teen because it was a a hellish experience and that was in the 80's - way easier in a lot of ways than today. Between a mediocre educational system that rewarded conformity over creativity, the daily abuse that came from being too weird and/or smart for the vast majority of my peers, and add in a healthy dose of a dysfunctional family to round it all out and I'm amazed I ever graduated. It's probably best I did walk away from school some of the times I did so that I could go calm down and not escalate a situation or do something I would have absolutely regretted later. From what I hear from friends who have kids, the current system isn't any better and with social media the peer-strife element can be much worse. But then I'd probably be diagnosed with some disorder or another and be medicated and/or sent to an alternative or home school if I had to do it all over again today. Thank you, no.
