  1. I keep posting the George Carlin joke because it keeps being true -- “Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.” And I'll add that many of them seem to be Trump supporters.

  2. Corporate greed is part of it but there is so much more than just that. Someone else mentioned supply chain problems which is valid and someone else accurately mentioned other produce increases being traced to climate change disruptions. For eggs, products that use eggs, and chicken meat there were a lot of culling of chickens due to avian flu outbreaks. Everyone is raising their bottom line prices from farmers and ranchers to other manufacturers of household goods. And a lot of lower paid employees all along the line from the people supplying the raw materials to the people making things with those raw materials to the people working at the stores have been getting much needed pay increases in order to keep up with other cost of living increases where they live. I'm sure there are other factors too, but these all are also a big part of the problem.
