  16. The Russian Central bank rate is 16% This is extremely high, to put it into perspective the "high" rate that Americans are complaining about in USA is 5.5%. The reason why Russia has such a high rate is because inflation is out of control in Russia. This is because the military will pay 5 or even 10 times more than the average salary this is a humongous inflationary pressure which harms those in the real economy: the private sector, Who have seen their wages not keep up with inflation.

Now due to inflation it is up to about $600 a month. The reason is the other economy the military economy they will pay frontline soldiers $2000 a month and they will pay military factory workers about a $1000 a month. This huge discrepancy between the 2 economies in Russia is creating labor shortages and massive inflation. This is why the Russian Central bank rate is 16%, a rate so high that it does not allow consumer credit.

  32. Dear Economist Mark, I live in California but my wife is from Poland. We lived together in Poland for 5 years in the town of Wadowice, 1 hour West of Krakowa. I love USA and I love Poland. These are Nations that value freedom and liberty both. Poland is on the front line of the free world. It is in PL's security interest that Russia is defeated that is why Polska dedicates 3.9% of GDP to defense, in comparison USA contributes 2.9% The NATO guidline is 2%, which only half of our allies are fufilling.
