  1. He filmed this in a part of the Sierra Nevada Mtns backcountry that rarely gets visited by humans (usually just John Muir Trail/PCT thru-hikers). Yosemite Valley is about 5% of the national park and where 95% of the visitors congregate. Also Tuolumne Meadows.

  2.  @nephilimninjaofnibiru2907  Yep. pretty much Mexico and Southern California. While they are still grown is So-Cal, Mexico took over most of the market when NAFTA became reality, turning a lot of the So-Cal groves into new housing tracts.
