  1.  @SumTingWong888  Its a "Kinda-Sorta" situation. A lot of the companies in China moved production out due to lower costs and better financial situations in neighboring countries. Example: I was looking at new TVs a few weeks ago and noticed TVs from two of the popular Chinese brands, TCL and Hisense, are labeled as being 'Made in Vietnam' on the boxes and on the display TVs. Smartphone and laptop computer production is also leaving China. I bet the tariffs are imposed on an item-by-item basis.

  2. They do, but basic modern chips, but nothing used in hi-end/cutting edge smartphones, computers, A.I. systems, etc. And DoD chips are on a whole different level than what Peter is talking about here; not necessarily the tech inside the chips, but the chips' applications.

  3. They already have foundries in Japan, the USA, and (I believe) Europe. I'm not sure if those 'offshore' foundries can produce the cutting-edge semiconductors PZ is talking about in this video.
