  1. The Republicans will almost certainly pick up California congressional district #47, Katie Porter's seat. It was morphed into a Republican-dominated district back in the 2020 census realignment and Porter (Dem) barely won it in 2022. The Repub in the race is a well-known party 'operative' who was known for some dirty political deeds back in the 1990s so that may add another member to the far-right House faction you mention. EDIT: Hopefully, even with this one flip here in the "People's Republic of California", the Dems can take enough seats on November to flip the House chamber to Dem control and the legislative agenda might get moving again.
