  2. From my past employment life a little over a decade ago - A lot of the top-end weapons 'chips' are not made in Taiwan, but home-made here in the USA. While TSMC may focus on the high-end processing that puts more transistors on a tiny chip of semiconductive silicon (or other base material), there are quite a few smaller ops in the USA focused on making a chip based on the final application like the violent forces and temps of a missile launching, flying through the atmosphere, acquiring its target, and exploding properly. Hi-tech as hi-teach can get. Not sure if that's still the same these days but I imagine it is.
