  1. I'm wondering about the manufacturing/re-industrialization Peter always talks about, the 're-shoring' phenomenon. After 45 years in the workforce all I saw was de-industrialization around the USA and nothing being built to replace it. I'd sure like to know where all these new industrial/manufacturing jobs are being created these days, what they are producing that keeps them in the USA, and how are they going to be cost-competitive with foreign offshore manufacturing. Anybody reading this in the USA have a facility or industrial park in your area producing some kind of 'consumer-level' widgets?

  2.  @joshg5122  I've got a brother who works for a medical device manufacturer, cardiology-focused, from stents to heart/lung machines. Almost all of the plastic parts are fab'd in Mexico, and the assembly is done down there, too. The heart/lung machines' parts are fab'd down there with some sub assembly, but final assembly is up here in the USA. Most of their USA facilities are just offices attached to warehouses, no significant manufacturing/fabrication/assembly. That seems to be the direction things are going, so I kind of question Peter's knowledge of this topic. Semiconductors plants used to exist in big numbers in the USA back in the day, now they are all overseas except for the hi-end and military-sensitive stuff. Cheers
