Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, a freshman lawmaker who also voted against the infrastructure bill, celebrating new "game-changing" funding to upgrade locks along the Upper Mississippi River. In November, Rep. Rob Wittman, R-Va., was one of 205 House Republicans to vote against the bipartisan, $1.5 trillion infrastructure bill, calling it irresponsible and the "Green New Deal in disguise." On Friday, he took to Twitter to tout funding from the bill he voted against -- highlighting a $70 million expansion of the Port of Virginia in Norfolk -- one of the busiest and deepest ports in the United States.

A year later, in September 2016, Boebert was charged with careless driving and operating an unsafe vehicle after rolling her truck into a ditch, police said. When she failed to show up for court a month later, a warrant was issued for her arrest. She was booked on Feb. 13, 2017. She ultimately pleaded guilty to the unsafe vehicle charge and paid $123.50 in fines and court costs. The careless driving charge was dismissed. The incident was first reported by the Colorado Times Recorder.

In 2021, Alabama Senator Tommy Tuberville voted against President Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill, which he said would fail to give his state a “fair slice of the pie while also saddling Alabama taxpayers with even more debt.” But the Republican sounded a different note this week, when he touted the “crucial funds to boost ongoing broadband efforts” his state would receive — without noting that those funds were part of the 2021 infrastructure legislation he had vocally opposed.

Boebert said the revelers had not been read their Miranda rights and that the arrest was illegal. “Lauren continued yelling and causing the underage drinkers to become unruly,” an arresting officer said in a statement at the time. “Lauren said multiple times that she had friends at Fox News and that the illegal arrest would be national news.”

When Gaetz was 26, he was driving back from a nightclub on Okaloosa Island in a BMW registered to his father, then-Florida Sen. Don Gaetz. Okaloosa County Deputy Chris Anglin clocked Gaetz traveling 48 mph in a 35 mph. Anglin reported that Gaetz’s eyes were watery and bloodshot, and he swayed and staggered when he got out of the car and smelled of alcohol. Gaetz’s lawyer filed a motion to drop the case. The prosecutor agreed to drop the case in December 2008, court records show.

Bush pleaded guilty, was fined $150 and his driving privileges in Maine were suspended for a short period. Had this happened to Bush a few years later, he would have had to spend two days in jail. Bush has acknowledged one other arrest. He'd been picked up at Yale University in 1966 when he and friends were caught swiping a Christmas wreath for their fraternity house. The charges were later dropped.

Rep. Duncan Hunter was indicted in 2018 and eventually was sentenced in 2020 to just under a year in federal prison for pilfering more than $150,000 of campaign funds. He resigned his seat. Trump granted Hunter a full pardon.

Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, a Nebraska Republican, was indicted in October 2021 on three charges of concealing information and lying to federal authorities who were investigating contributions made to Fortenberry’s 2016 reelection campaign at a Los Angeles fundraiser. A federal jury found Fortenberry guilty in March 2022 of "one count of scheming to falsify and conceal material facts and two counts of making false statements to federal investigators," according to a DOJ news release. After his conviction, McCarthy called for Fortenberry’s resignation, and he complied. Fortenberrry avoided prison time but was sentenced last year to two years’ probation.
