Lol the US did that for peace around the world? So you actually believe the US is helping Saudi Arabia bomb villages, hospitals, schools, etc... in Yemen in order to make the world more peaceful? That honestly has 0% logic behind it. The USA has helped to completely destabilize Yemen just like it has numerous other countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

There are less than 500 of them. Germany and other European countries let in hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of refugees. The situations are barely comparable due to the difference in numbers.

Jo Leslie you clearly know nothing about the Yemeni Civil War. It's not a traditional war between two sides. It's mostly Saudi Arabia bombing random places throughout Yemen mixed with several tribal factions. It's a very complicated war with no clear solution.

Many of the European countries went too extreme by letting in millions of refugees without proper vetting. There are only 486 in South Korea so it won't have any effect on the country as long as proper screening is done, which it appears is what's happening.

大한국인 I would say homogeneity breeds racism, prejudice and ignorance of "others." I suppose it's a source of pride for many Koreans though so whatever works I guess. On the refugee issue, there are already 100,000 Muslims living peacefully in Korea so adding an extra 500 doesn't make any difference. You say, however, that more will come. That's impossible since the visa-free program for Yemenis was cancelled last month. Despite the fake stories you've seen trying to fear monger about the refugees, crime has not increased on Jeju since they've arrived.

The Dankest Ron Paul there are actually 100,000 Muslims already peacefully living in South Korea and it is still one of the safest countries in the world. Adding 486 (with proper vetting of course) more won't effect anything.

LXVE there are actually areas of Indonesia that have Sharia Law as the official law of the province and it is illegal for a Muslim in Malaysia to change their religion so I don't think your argument that SE Asia is more moderate is very convincing. Also, why should I care what a Turkish or Malaysian person has to say on the subject more than other nationalities? Because they're Muslim their opinions count more? I don't think so. I'm sure they're just as uninformed on the subject as most people in Korea.............

"omg I'm so scared of mixed cultures" says the bigot

Mark Gil Rosales Your mentality is stuck in the middle ages. Regardless of how much you hate different cultures/ethnicities mixing, this is the 21st century and it will continue to happen at a rapid pace. You can either put your big boy pants on and accept it or continue to cry like a bigoted twat but the first option will benefit you more in the long run.

Mark Gil Rosales Okay so just keep advocating for races/cultures not mixing and see how far it gets you. In modern societies, with how easy transportation is, countries will continue mixing. South Korea and Japan have massively declining birth rates so their only options to maintain their populations are to open themselves more to immigration.

Tiffany Keepers yes, I'm aware there is a lot of fear and insecurity throughout Korea regarding this issue due to many factors such as media sensationalism and just pure ignorance on Yemen/Yemeni Civil War/Islam/refugees. It's very sad and frustrating to see the high level of prejudice and ignorance Koreans are showing regarding this issue. Koreans are kind but highly inclusive and protective of their own to a fault so I'd like to see a little more open-mindedness from them. I realize, however, that this is asking a lot for a homogeneous society.

Tiffany Keepers What in the world were you talking about with your gay uncle having his house vandalized and cat killed? What relation does that have to the topic at hand? Are you saying a refugee did that?

Tiffany Keepers You should really do some research on the subject (Google is your friend), as obviously you just said that % of Sweden's population thing without actually looking anything up. In 2013 and 14, for example, Sweden took in a little over 200,000 refugees. That is around 1.9% of the population of Sweden, which is obviously a way bigger number (28x).

Tiffany Keepers If I was living back in the USA in a house, I would gladly let an asylum seeker/refugee stay with me for a couple years.
