I think India is trying to stay involved with both sides sort like Turkey has done, walking that fine line between East and West, sort of a "friendly to all but loyal to none" approach, which I think is very smart. Even though they have had a lot of problems with China they still haven't slammed that door. Keeping your options open is smart.

My town has a ladies' book club where they gather and cluck about everything under the sun and it's not going away either. For some reason I'm not alarmed by this.

I DID NOT EAT THE SCHOOL GLUE! But that white paste stuff we had in 4th grade was pretty good, kind of like a gritty mayonnaise...

By the way, for a long time people kept saying "the 20th century was the American century and the 21st century will be the Chinese century". I don't think so. I think the 21st century will be the Indian century...that is if India will not continually shoot itself in the foot like China has.

My Dad used to say "the world is 99% bullshit". That was before the Internet. So now 99.9%. I'm not throwing shade at Zeihan, only describing my overall view of everything I see on the Internet. I heard it in some movie: "trust no one".

Oooh, do you have inside information? C'mon tell us, p-l-e-a-s-e!

Yes. Aspergers is a horrible thing. @robertdlucas7418

According to Michael Pettis, an economist, the dollar ending as a global currency would benefit the U.S. the most. Something about the U.S. having to carry a huge account deficit as a result of being the global currency. Not saying he's right or wrong. I really struggle understanding economics. My eyes start to glaze over pretty quickly.

Who in the Hell thinks Brazil and South Africa matter more? South Africa has trouble keeping the lights on and Brazil has been on the rise for 30 years and still not arrived. Will they ever? No Ones knows, least of all Brazil. Don't tell me you Indians are as sensitive as the Chinese, always getting your feelings hurt whenever anyone's saying anything less than celebratory. Man up. Who cares what other people think of you? What's important is what you think of yourself and getting butt-hurt so easily says you're insecure. @swapnil-nr3gt

Rome wasn't built in a day" and it didn't fall just in one day either. It disintegrated over a long time. Imagine a car driving down the road and every now and then a piece falls off. That car can go a lot of miles before it finally grinds to a halt...but it will eventually grind to a halt. China's a big country with a lot of people so a lot of parts to fall off...but they are falling off.

I view BRICS as a room full of squabbling children with India being the only adult.

Good point. It's kind of hard to solve the world's problems when figuring out what sex we are confuses us. @soumikmukhopadhyay4117

It's like a schoolyard bully starting a club with a lot of smaller kids so he can beat them up.

I think some of these countries are just joining because no one has ever asked them to join anything before. Sort of like the loser nerds in high school being invited to join the chess club. "Hey, it's better than nothing. At least somebody wants me".

"England has no eternal friends, England has no perpetual enemies, England has only eternal and perpetual interests."---Lord Palmerston As long as two countries have a common interest, or more usually, a common enemy, they are "friends". But not really friends friends. As soon as the enemy goes away or their interests diverge "poof" friendship over. @samael7867

Now, that there is funny!

I'm hoping BRICS invites Spain, Honduras, Indonesia, and Thailand to join so that then it'll be called SHITBRICS.
