I've heard something similar in India. The paperwork and bureaucracy stifles any hopes of growth. And of course, in both places, more bureaucrats mean more palms to grease thus eating into profits further. The country that'll be the winner in the race to replace China is the one that streamlines their bureaucracy where going into business is not so onerous a task.

Both of them. Let's stop the wrangling between Dems and Republican citizens. They're the same uni-party.

Yep. Now if they can just get them to work right out of the box where you don't have to return it three times they'll rule the world. Oh, and the bursting into flames thing.

Simple: build factories and all the cartel members will go to work in the factories instead of being cartel members. Damn, I'm smart enough to get a government job!

Sure.

Build a fence around it and come back in 100 years and see how they're doing.

That's what I hate about south of the border all the way to Tierra del Fuego: their constant reeling from a Left wing/murderous faux Communist government to eventually being replaced by a right-wing murderous junta of generals and then back again to Commie-lite. And government corruption on both sides. That's why I'd never consider retiring there. One day you're welcomed in with open arms and the next your jailed for being a yankee spy. Maybe it's a quirk of Spanish/Portuguese culture in the Western hemisphere. North of the border you have British roots in the U.S. and Canada. You can bad mouth Britain all you want but their legacy seems to lead to better results.

With all this "derisking talk" wouldn't the best solution be to spread it around? Instead of choosing one country why not choose them all: India, Vietnam, Mexico, Malaysia, Peru, etc.? If one country becomes the answer soon we'll be derisking from them. I hope we've learned not to put all of our eggs in one basket, whether China or Mexico.

Why aren't the environmentalists all over this? They're always whining about plastic waste. We throw away more stuff now than ever before in history all right under the Greenies' very noses. Instead of gluing everything together how about using some screws so it can be taken apart and fixed? Throw away a 52" TV over a 29 cent part? Idiocy! Another gripe I have is all the water bottles. Why not have water dispensing machines in grocery stores where you bring in your own gallon containers and fill them for so much a gallon and reuse them? Then distribute the water to your own smaller bottles when you get home and reuse those too. It seems like I saw something like this in Walmart. The oceans are full of single-serve water bottles. Make them illegal. Instead of mounting a billion dollar government effort to clean them up why not stop them at their source?

I think Mexico's main export is Mexicans.

Doubtful on both counts.

It'll be greeat for moving drugs. I'm sure the cartels would contribute.
