And if the war doesn't end within a year typhoon season. Taiwan could call up 1.6 million troops. 1:3 rule states that an invasion force will need 4.8 million troops to be successful, this is not even considering an amphibious type invasion. Does China even have enough transportation ships for heavy armored vehicles and tanks? How many times do they have to go back and forth while being bombarded at the beach? The last time China tried invading another nation(Vietnam) at their border without a sea to cross, they got kicked out in 4 weeks and loss 26,000 troops in a single month. What more trying to cross the Taiwan Strait? Logistic nightmare. Side note: (for reference, the US loss 241 troops per month on average in the Vietnam war). Now compare that to China's 26,000 troops loses in a month

  32.  @IAMJEFFREY-cw9ns  The crossing of the strait alone make it's invasion more difficult than invading Ukraine even though Ukraine is larger. Taiwan has F-16s, Ukraine were using Soviet junks, Taiwan has a navy, Ukraine doesn't, Taiwan has long range missiles capable of reaching mainland China, these missiles could hit ports and shipyards which could interrupt China's supplies(Ukraine however is prevented by NATO to fire into Russia). Taiwan already have patriot air defense systems. Ukraine initially didn't and still not yet deployed I would assume. Amphibious landing invasions are the most difficult type of warfare, moreover your enemy knows exactly which beach you will be landing on with todays' technology like satellites. There will be 3 major difficulties: 1.) Logistics. 2.) Attempting to land while your ships being attacked by anti ship missiles. 3.) Maintaining your supply lines while your troops are fighting an urban warfare across the strait. You have to re-supply your troops with food, ammunition, patrol etc.. on the island. All Taiwan has to do is aim for the amphibious assault ships and supply ships and the invasion is over. China would then attempt a blockade on Taiwan and hitting Taiwan's trades. China's mass produced drones will definitely be a problem for Taiwan, China could out produce Taiwan and harass Taiwan with these drones. Today's war with drones being used indefinitely, is becoming like video games where the user could kill someone from a far. However one can not underestimate Taiwan, they are extremely persistent. I would describe Ukrainian soldiers as brave, I will describe Taiwanese soldiers as persistent. They(Taiwanese soldier) would keep coming at you non stop, they never give up, drones will keep coming your way with no rest, snipers will be on your back all the time.

This is equivalent to calling mainland soldiers "little emperors". Yes Russia's military strength is 5 times stronger than that of China's. China has zero air to air combat experience while Russia have plenty. 90% of China's military equipment are copied from Russia. Ukraine used to sell China Soviet era technology, which means China's military equipment are built upon Soviet designs and technology. China may have a bigger economy than Russia, but it's military equipment are copies of Russian military equipment and we know Russian military equipment are inefficient. China's JY-27 radar is said to be able to detect stealth fighter jets and was deployed in Syria in conjunction with Russian air defense system but was destroyed by Israeli fighter jets in 2019.

  37. @mudshovel 289 It wouldn't be as easy to supply Taiwan however the US is King of logistics. How in the world did they re-supply the war in Vietnam for more than 20 years, and from more than 10,000 km away across the ocean? The US/allies could supply Taiwan from the east, you then might argue about China's ballistic missile that could hit US supply ships, this would provoke the US to use standoff long range missiles to hit China's air defenses and ballistic missiles at it's coast. US would initially not want to hit mainland China, however if China's missiles are targeting it's supplies, US would be forced to hit China's ballistic missiles and air defenses.

  38.  @farsiga2899  There are multiple reasons as to why one would withdraw. It could be China was losing soldiers at a fast rate, according to western reports 26,000 within a single month. Now there is no reason for western reports to lie because the western powers were on China's side against the Soviet as Soviet and Vietnam's relations grew closer. So that could be the reason as to why China voluntarily withdrew, however I highly doubt China withdrew because of the huge number of losses judging from the "human wave" tactics they portrayed in the Korean war. My point is how much more troops will China lose attempting to invade Taiwan? It may have not have such a great impact during China's Vietnam war because it's demographic wasn't a problem then but today China's population is aging, it can't afford to lose young men.
