Still tragic that traditional Jewish culture in Europe was almost completely wiped out.Imagine a trip through Poland, Ukraine, Belarus without the Shoa, you could find a Jewish community in every small village, in every town, but that is lost. But nice to see that the old traditions live on in new places.

As a german i still cant understand what the generation of our grandfathers did. Its so important to listen to the suvivors as long as they're able to speak to us. Peter, thank your for the interview!

Before you deny the holocaust better inform about that there were different areas in the camp: Birkenau, where all incoming were killed and Monowitz, a large industrial area.

@n.k477 True, the survivers refounded chassidic communities, as u can see on their names like Satmar, Belzer or Lubawitsch. Thats why i wrote that they keep old traditions alive in new places.

@negationf6973 I'm not a friend of idealization of history. Probably times would have been hard for jewish communities either way as in all states of east Europa larger parts of the christian majority were antisemitic, it was not paradise that was lost; in the towns and villages the Jews had to live separated in their own quarters, there were restrictions in schools and universities for them and so on. I've read a lot about the Shoa and still cant believe that my ancestors erased a whole culture.

@negationf6973 I get your point. The diversity of culture once existed, not without harsh conflicts, is gone. But not gone as a result of normal transformation a lot of cultural groups passed through up to total assimilation in eastern Europe like the Lemken in the western Ukraine or the almost extincted culture of the Liven (sorry, idk the english name for them) in Latvia, the Lipka-Tatars in Lithuania. Maybe you know the book of Peter Manseau "Songs for the butcher's daughter," if not i strongly recommend, its beautiful and tells of the vanished world and language. Thank you for the exchange so far.

The Germans were advanced in rocket-technolgies but lagging behind in development in atomic resarch. The rockets itselfs left without serious impact on war, more people died while asembling the rokeckt-parts than by shooting them to England. Putting the resources in develepment and production of airplanes would've been much more sensefull.

What do you mean with "Caucasians"?

@AngelaMarie-777 Maybe there is a reason why your comments are deleted?! No one accepts if someone tries to denie the holocaust, as you did.
1
@AngelaMarie-777 Who did what in Dresden before the war?
1
@2Ensta Dont you agree that there is a difference between influencing or manipulating people with prejudges and killing millions of people?

@damonmelendez856 Not Serbia proclaimed it, the german occupiers did. The serbian roylists under Mihailovic were in resistance, some serbians collaborated. Especially former yugoslawien kingdom was compilcated: catholic croatians, orthodox serbians and muslimic bosnians fought each other and communist partisans among them.

@bob-wo3ir If you look back you can find antisemitism in every single european country, each on a different level, in germany mainly historical-religious and materialistic based, but germany decided trying to kill all european jews - the plan to kill 11 million people. Science tries to explain since decades how this could happen and still has no found an answer, so its way to easy to call it "a german cultural thing."
1
@FerventReminder Right, its illegal to denie the holocaust here. Of course you still can debate about details but you cant denie what happened. And no, i dont think its concerning. The Holocaust is probably the best-documented crime of all time; there are more than enough perpetrators who have openly admitted to mass murder.
1
@FerventReminder Read the interviews Eichmann did before he was brought to his trial in Jerusalem when he was still in freedom an among his former SS-Comrades, read the interview Gitta Sereny with Franz Stangl did, read or listen to Himmlers Speech in Poznan, read the "Ereignismeldungen UdSSR," the "Korherr-Bericht," the diary of the "Komandostab Reichsführer SS," the report of Jan Karski... To say it clear as possible: i dont talk with who deny the holocaust or try to relativize what happend.
1
Are there any black people who have been industrially killed? Shame on you to compare slavery with the holocaust.
1
"not a single documentary" ask yourself why. Maybe because you're just lying, only a very small number of european jews were able to escape to the area where Israel was founded later.
1
Please tell the stories. As long the stories are told no one can forget what happened.

Where is the relation between the interview and the ukrain?

@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom I agree when you say that a lot of violence was brought by europeans but you will find violence in all variations in asia and africa as well, so its not 'special european.'
1
@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom Calm down please. I'm from germany and the use of of the term 'caucasian' is different here - here it means people from armenia, azerbaidschan, chechnya to name a few. I still dont get it what the difference between 'caucasian' in your understandance and 'european' as i used should be. I wasnt intending to "put words in your mouth or accuse (or imply)." With 'special european' i meant as i wrote that violence is not exklusiv labeled with 'european.' There was violence in all ways before the europeans conquered the world and probably you're right when you say this had an impact on the local societies till today. And in the end i still dont understand how you can relate your first comment with the interview of an holocaust survivor.
1
@The.Hawaiian.Kingdom I dont like the way you try to discus. You're the last i'ld ask to teach or educat me anything. You dont have to tell me anything about the holocaust as i know more about than i ever wanted to know. "What are Germans taught the holocaust WAS if not an “ethnic cleansing”?!" I'm not the "germans," i'm a guy from germany. Go on and hide yourself behind the term "caucasian" and try to explain all bad on earth with a single word, but its your way not mine. Thanx for your time & words, you're probably too smart for me...
1
@gnawershreth Interesting point! Sounds plausible, but I think you also have to consider the socio-economic conditions of the surrounding majority society. If this had remained strictly religious and rather poor, leveling would have been difficult. Look at the Mennonites or Amish people, they have kept their culture for centuries without any repression from the majority society in the US and other countries. In the end we will never know what could have happened.

In Auschwitz jewish people were forced to enter gas chambers and burnt in crematories. Whats wrong with to compare gas chambers with the current conflict between people from Israel and Palestin?!

Following your videos for longer i'm again suprised to see how divers and different the US are. Somehow, unless all the differences, they keep the US running well.
