@grey5751 They're out there ! Where are they ? There might be a few from FEMA in Ashville but they're not in the small mountain communities. The roads and bridges are gone ! It's a 10 mile hike into Chimney Rock. Pack your own water because they don't have any.

@grey5751 I don't expect "everything to be replaced" in a day. That's unrealistic! What I would expect from our government is to get supplies and things done a little quicker. We're going on two weeks since the flooding. Many people are stuck with no way out, no water, internet to contact FEMA to even start the process. Sadly, our government has never been known for efficiency or speed.

@marquink You really have no clue ! Dams control the flow of water. They also can generate electricity. In the midst of the flood just one of our local dams was dumping a record 1.2 million gallons of water per second!

@lisapm0628 I don't live in North Carolina but I have visited. I live in a rural area in East Tennessee in a mountain community. I went through a small flash flood in the 90's. I know the local people are doing the work.

@lavonneschultz1322 From what I found FEMA cannot seize your property. Money from FEMA is mostly a grant that doesn't have to be paid back. On the website it does say that in some cases if you have homeowners insurance, you will have to pay a portion of the money back. The website also said loans are available from the Small Business Administration. That definitely has to be paid back.
