  1. ​ @rickscott6115 Mississippi is the poorest "red" state. New Mexico is the poorest "blue" state. However, neither of those states look like Oakland California.

States with the most SNAP recipients: New Mexico, Louisiana, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Oregon, Illinois, Alabama, Massachusetts, Nevada, and North Carolina. Four of those states are Democrat controlled. States receiving the most federal funds per person: Washington DC, (not a state) Wyoming, Alaska, Vermont, Delaware. Two out of the five are Democrat controlled. None are in Ohio or southern states. The states that receive the least funding per person: Georgia, Florida, and Utah. All three Republican controlled states.
