  2. Modern miltary history of Mexican society has a strong caudillo culture that has emerged out of the Mexican revolution. That somehow has found its way in the ranks of cartels amd other syndicates.

  3. You do forget that its not all about the money in Mexico. Its about message too. Even the Big politicians and oligarchies with all the best protection aren't totally safe from the reach of the cartel. The cartel's fear factor outweights their monetary power.
