  12. @Amanda Hughes Farage was elected as a Ukip candidate and didn't stand down as an MEP when he left Ukip. Did you criticise him? You're just twisting the argument to fit your ideology/beliefs, and that's the problem. Many of the Brexiteers voted AGAINST the withdrawal agreement on the grounds, they said, it was not a 'real' Brexit. One could just as well argue they broke the mandate. At the end of the day, people elect MPs to take decisions and they've decided very little because there is no majority for anything - other than ruling out a hard Brexit because it would be a disaster for the economy (and none of them said that in the referendum or the election).

  14. @Amanda Hughes Farage was elected for one party, and then left it without resigning for a by-election. That's the point. He said Ukip had become racist and anti-Muslim. Barbara Castle was a socialist.

  15.  @VincentRE79  I was never much of a supporter of Blair. But denouncing people as "Blairite" is sinister. Blair a) won elections b) did achieve things in government (including the Good Friday Agreement, which did far more for the ordinary folk of Ireland than Corbyn and McDonnell's cheerleading for the Provisional IRA).

  17.  @VincentRE79  Rayner would be marginally better - but I agree, in terms of sheer quality, look at Wilson's cabinet - Jenkins, Callaghan, Healey, Castle, Benn, Crossman, Crosland. If you look at Labour in parliament, Starmer and Benn stand out, but the quality of the shadow cabinet is shocking. If I were the Tories I'd publicise Diane Abbot.
