Absolutely. Look what they did to Eustace Mullins after he wrote the first ever comprehensive history of the Federal Reserve in 1952. J Edgar Hoover called him 'The most dangerous man in America" (an author!!) - the fbi surveilled and harassed him for the rest of his life and they even beat up his elderly father who died shortly afterwards.
