I don't know much about evangelicals (I live in the UK) but I'm wondering if their belief in the rapture (I think its they who believe in the rapture, if I'm correct?/) means they want catastrophe because they believe they'll be immediately transported to Heaven: if that's why they are so enthusiastic they are a very dangerous bunch.
