Chinese were taught wrong. Univeristy degree is no longer worth much, as there are too many of them. Even master degree. These adults put too much pride in obtaining their degrees. The classes they took are out of date. All those knowledge and theories become out of date very quickly. Yet, these graduates, rarely talk about their work experience. In today's society, work experience is more valuable than just a piece of paper. And employers know this. Employer knows, nearly everyone has a pape of paper. What employers are seeking is, do they have work experience. Employers no longer want to train you, as it is a cost. On day one, the employee better start making money for the company or they are fired. Employers don't have the time, resource or energy to train. Furthermore, employers do not want textbook answers. They want those with high IQ and quality street smart, aka, common sense, problem solving skills, critical thinking. These can't be taught, only acquired through life and experiences. So, rather talk about what degree or what university he/she attends, how about talk about your skills, and working experience. Because your peice of paper is a piece of garbage!

@Wben113 People with no degrees can still find jobs that pay 4000-6000 rmb. Do waiters and waitress need degrees? How about drivers and delivery? Do they need degrees to deliver, drive, clean tables at restuarant? Those working in the service industry with any degree might have a higher chance to get a little more pay, and higher change to be hired. But as employers, do they need their degrees to do their job? If a HS gradulate can work at a resturant by cleaning tables, take orders, and has working exprience, it would make sense for the employer to hiring a HS graduate with real working experience and pay them less. Why would the employer pay more with someone with a paper, when he/she can do the same job?
If that HS gradulate is a capable worker and can add value to the restaurant staff, he/she deserve higher salary over time.
Having a degree over the life time, still yield higher salary. But with current China's economy, many with masters can't secure the job that they study. What do you say about that?
China's economy may not recover from this. Look at the Evergrande and housing policies. Together, they made the perfect storm. Housing bubble burst. Unfinished housing construction, too many university graduates, all factors are related.

I still don't understand how these "recent" graduates, have such high demands. As a employer, if you want 8k, l want to see your past work experience, during ur uni yrs. I want to see volutunteer work experience or intership, paid or not paid. I don't want you to brag or talk about what classes you took, how you write your essay, projects, etc. I want to hear your work experience, skills you obtained, how you problem solved that is not textbook.
If you can answer all these questions well and have worked during university during time off like summer and winter and etc, yes, lll give you the 8k rmb because I see the value you bring. But these b**** has no value, only a useless piece of paper, a peice of shit and want 8k. They are lucky to get 4k and maybe 8k after 3-4 yrs of work experience based on performance. They demand and demand, believing they are so valuable. As a employer, lm looking for the cheapest labor, if you only have a sh***y paper from university.

Their high dreams are shattered. During HS and University, they were too naive and too over confidental that their degree is the golden ticket to a better life. THey might be smart, but lack common sense or street smart. They only understand 1 perspective and can't see 360 degrees. They see onside of the coin and cant see the other side.
And when the real world hits them, they can't adapt. They were told Santa Clause and Tooth Fair are real all thougout university. WHen they finally understood the harsh reality, they break down. Saying, life is not fair, all that hard work for nothing. Since when is society EVER fair. Some are born rich and others poor. Some a few have luck and most do not.
During summer and break times (university yrs), they continue to study, like brainless zombies. Thinking working at convenient stores or other low paying jobs like MCd is not for them. Again, they look at one sided, never think of the benefits of working at these low paying jobs. I learned: customer service skills, problem solving skills, communication, using a cash register, time management. All these skills are so valuable in the real life. Yet, their dead mind set, thinking, they are too good to be working at these jobs. They only see the low salary. When they graudate, the only have 1 thing to show or talk about during the interview. And the employer know, this is boring. They heard it all; their school life. What employers want is their work life, skills he/she accumulated during his/her time. What problems were encounter during the employement. How was it solved. What method was used. What is effective. etc etc. When ask these questions, their mind is a blank. They can't answer these questions because they never worked in low labor job. Yet questions apply to all sectors of the job economy.
