Increase of 348%. Diesel : ₹31.83/Litre(2020), was ₹3.56/Litre(2014). Increase of 894%. State VAT is levied on top of central excise duty so basically a ₹1 drop in central duty would decrease fuel prices more than the same ₹1 drop in state VAT. In 2014, states made more money from fuel prices than what states are making in 2020 out of the excise duty divisible pool. In 2014 ₹6.35 out of ₹9.48 went to divisible pool and in 2020 only ₹2.98 out of ₹32.98 goes to divisible pool.

  2.  @Chief-czar  True! Retail inflation is getting higher as well. Fuel prices always affects food prices.
