  1. Contrary to what Republicans want to believe, the leaks DO make the department look better. It puts into context how serious the stuff was that Trump stole and concealed, so now most people (except Republicans, obviously) think the raid was justified.

  2. The DOJ has no problem at all with leaking information that damages the preferred (read: false) Republican narrative. Republicans are trying the absolute hardest to convince the public that the DOJ did something wrong. But they didn't. Trump is the one who stole national secrets, and he is the one who deceived the FBI after receiving a grand jury subpoena to give them back. Totally preventable

  3. No one is suggesting that Trump will be prosecuted under the Presidential Records Act. That's not one of the three statutes that Trump is close to being prosecuted under. He willfully removed 1. government records, 2. "national defense information" (NDI) and 3. obstructed the FBI and the National Archives while they spent 18 months trying to get it back.
