  1. Trump wouldn't be getting prosecuted either if he had just given all the documents back when he received a subpoena. 18 months they gave him before they had to get a search warrant. But by then, he was toast.

  2. Well they spent 1 and a half years negotiating with him to get the stuff back. Then another few months battling him in court. Then another 6 months investigating. He forced it to take this long.

  3. But it would be worse if Trump could get away with lying and obstructing the FBI. Had he just given the documents back, he would have been exonerated just like Pence.

  5. Trump shouldn't have obstructed the FBI. He was toast the moment they had to raid his home to get the documents back. 18 months they tried. He got others to lie for him. He defied a subpoena. He fought them in court to get the documents back. And now he will go to jail.

  6.  @bowhunter4893  Then lucky for us the charges brought don't depend on the documents being classified. He is charged with false statements, conspiracy to obstruct, and retaining National Defense Information. Really short circuits Trump's "declassified" defense.
