Lone Ranger Legally you cannot commit treason in the US unless we are at war. Congress has not declared war on any nation, so it is literally impossible for anyone to be convicted of treason. However Trump did commit high crimes and misdemeanors by asking/bribing/extorting Ukraine into digging up dirt on his political rivals in order to stay in power. That is a highly corrupt thing for a President to do and an abuse of power. So they are impeaching him. Even if he is not removed, it will send a strong message to any future president not to use their power to hurt their opponents

The House of Representatives has the “sole power of impeachment”. They make all the rules. So contrary to what Fox News says, this is not a criminal trial. Donald Trump has NO rights. None . Unless Democrats decide to give him some. He does not get the right to face his accuser. Not to mention that would put the whistleblower’s life in danger from some of the more angry Trump supporters.

Republicans won’t start treason investigations because treason is a crime that can only be committed when we are officially at war with another country. So I t is legally impossible to commit treason. Even if Ukraine and the US have an agreement to fight corruption, I feel like Trump had a clear corrupt intent. It seems like he singled out Biden and Crowdstrike because he wants to go after Democrats. All the witnesses are saying he wanted those two specific things investigated. Doesn’t that seem a little suspicious?

There is no due process required. The Bill of Rights doesn’t apply to impeachment. It’s only for criminal trials. The whistleblower has a legal right to remain anonymous. Next time tell Trump not to do anything that could be interpreted as an abuse of power

Alex Brewer If the whistleblower is actually a CIA agent, he is an intelligence accuser. He didn’t tell Congress to impeach Trump. Democrats decided it was the right thing to do if Trump abused his power to hurt his political opponents. But no matter, just about everything the whistleblower said has already been corroborated. So they don’t really need him for the investigation. Finally, I just want to remind you that the Constitution gives no rights to a president during an impeachment. None . So he does not get to face his accuser. This is not a criminal trial.
