@dthrust9037 Yes, the economy absolutely grew too much and too fast in 2021. Everyone was spending money buying stuff. GDP grew by 10.1 percent in 2021 compared to the average of 2-3 percent. That's the literal definition of an "overheated economy." Unemployment goes to record lows of 3.5 percent, and prices go up way too fast (AKA inflation of 9.5 percent). Now the Federal Reserve is quickly raising interest rates to make borrowing money more expensive and slow things down. All while trying not to tip us in the opposite direction (people stop spending money on stuff)

The first recession with record low unemployment. All that means is that the economy grew too much in 2021 and now is shrinking back towards the mean.

@samiam8641 Although Biden may talk about moving away from fossil fuels. You know as well as I do that drilling companies are sitting on THOUSANDS of drilling leases for drilling on federal lands that are going unused. Also, you forgot about the effect of so many aging refineries shutting down over the past few years. And ESPECIALLY the fact that it took the Fed almost a year to figure out that inflation wasn't "transitory" while they continued pumping money into the economy. And the supply chain issues which sent prices soaring. And the fact these issues are worldwide. Somehow you are so aware of the issues but missed half the causes. Seems purposeful

@samiam8641 Everything did not take a dive the day Biden took office. That didn't happen until 2022. An unemployment is still at record lows. AND you're still ignoring the Fed and all the money Trump pumped into the economy to combat Covid. I'm willing to admit that Biden is not perfect, but you are being unreasonable by trying to exaggerate his ability to cause these problems. And also, perhaps Trump would still be in office if things were "so good" when he was in power.
1
@samiam8641 Yeah, you say that. But you will vote for him. And complain about Biden. Which is hypocritical. And please don't insult my intelligence and act like you would not still vote for Trump, even though he is largely responsible too.

@samiam8641 If I'm getting hosed by "the media", where do you get your news then? I'm guessing from "the media". Lol But let's think about that... why was there no inflation under Trump even though he and the Fed (which you don't want to hear about since Biden is your main target) pumped TRILLIONS onto the economy? Probabaly because we were in a pandemic and no one was doing or buying anything 🤔. Pretty sure you knew that, but including ALL the facts doesn't fit the narrative you want. Fortunately, I don't have memory loss like some people.

@dthrust9037 Their way of telling people to stop spending money is by making it more expensive to borrow (raising interest rates people pay on credit cards, loans, new house purchases). They actually did stop printing money too, FINALLY, back in March. Now they are slowly destroying some of that money. We would be in a better situation if they didn't print so much money trying to save us from Covid. Also if they had started raising rates a year ago. No one knew the economy would recover so quickly after the lockdowns. Or that the supply chain crisis would last so long. After 2008 it took years "too long" to get back to normal. This time they did a much bigger stimulus and we recovered "too fast." But hindsight is 20/20. They were working with the knowledge they had at the time.

@dthrust9037 Yeah, people always blame and/or give credit to presidents for things they don't have much control over. But in these hyper partisan days I'm shocked to hear a non-Biden supporter actually say that all the world's problems might not be his fault. No doubt you're a pretty cool guy. It's true, we picked Biden because he had the name recognition to get rid of Trump. But to us progressives, a so-so Democrat is preferable to a cult leader (in my personal opinion) who believes that the cruelty is the point.
1
@dthrust9037 I can understand how you might think Democrats have become too liberal. But did you really just say that the Party of Trump is similar to 2012 Democrats?? Gotta say I don't see too many similarities there. The entire platform seems to boil down to: 1. Cut taxes, spending, and evil government programs 2. Crush anyone who might make straight white Christians feel uncomfortable and 3. Guns!! Seems pretty different from what Obama ran on

@stormyweather9917 No. Stop making up numbers like ALL Republicans do. The estimated cost is $300 billion. And it is balanced by the Inflation Reduction Act, which LOWERS the deficit by $350 billion. If Biden is reckless, then Trump is 2x as reckless since his pandemic bills gave out more than twice as much free money as Biden's pandemic bill. And that is a FACT.

It's because most of their complaints could be solved with staying informed: 1. He actually is doing stuff -- why does he need to be loud like Trump for you to stay informed? 2. President doesn't control Congress -- he can only sign into law what they actually pass, and Democrats only have a razor thin majority. 3. President doesn't control the conservative Supreme Court -- so don't blame him for mass shootings, Covid (they blocked his employer mandate), or Roe vs Wade. All these obstacles and he is STILL getting stuff done. But these guys want Biden to be LOUD.

@Roguefem76 If you watch the video, about 2/3 through the commentator actually shows a list of Biden's major accomplishments. Makes everyone go silent and then say that Biden basically isn't LOUD enough. Do Biden's accomplishments include Medicare for all, no. But Biden has done quite a bit. He is just terrible at bragging about his accomplishments, which makes people think he hasn't done anything. And that's in addition to the fact that if Republicans were in power, we would be going BACKWARDS rather than slowly forwards.
1
@Roguefem76 Correction. He has been in office for only a year and a half. Remember, his term started two weeks after Jan 6, 2021, when Donald Trump watched TV for 3 hours while the mob he sent to the Capitol ransacked the place. Also Biden is about to pass a major bipartisan semiconductor chip and industry bill. And also a major climate bill in the next few weeks. Funny that you complain about Biden not accomplishing anything and then you make it clear that you don't actually want him to accomplish anything. Which means you're just a troll.
1
Actually all we wanted was to get rid of Trump. But in addition to that, we got a climate bill, expanded healthcare, and lower prescription drug prices. Huge infrastructure bill, first black female on the Supreme Court, etc. Conservatives can troll all they want, and liberals can complain all they want that he didn't get Mdicare for all. But I am quite content with Biden's list of wins. Sorry you couldn't stop them all.
1
Says the guy who didn't want Biden to have any wins in the first place. You done trolling yet? Seems like you're the one trying to shout someone down. I'm completely content.
1
Better than having a white supremacist like the last guy. There's a reason the crowd at Trump's rallies and the mob at the Capitol are all 95 percent white. As much as Republicans try to act like they "don't see color."
