  1. Disruptive technologies can affect society, but I am going to say that there is a "hype" that tech companies are using to increase their value. Western society needs to integrate benign regulation to avoid the proliferation of harmful material. That regulation can only happen if people want it in a representative democracy. China and Russia will never become major powers because they thrive on oppression. Once we unplug from Russia's energy supply, they will have no leverage. China knows that they have been the world's source of cheap labor, but that is coming to an end with neighboring Asian countries looking to get a piece of the pie as well. I sense some level of "alarmism" in your opinion, Ian. I do respect it, but at the end of the day, I don't think the paradigm shift would be as serious as many people think. If anything, the only one in danger is mother earth.
