The UK's £2.5bn is less than 5% of our defence budget & the same applies to aid from France.
We, the UK should be contributing double that to at least match Germany's pledge.
What's needed most of all right now is 155mm artillery ammunition, especially DPICM, which is effective against both dismounted infantry & vehicles such as BMP, SPG, MLRS.
The US government has several million of these, ALL declared surplus to requirements & slated for disposal or remanufacture, at a cost of more than $5,000 per round.
The US government sent some to Ukraine, with each one being claimed as $60,000 (the original inventory cost).
This is BS, as sending them to Ukraine SAVES the US taxpayer $5,000 for each one sent.
Why should we Europeans expect the US to always pay for a big chunk of our defence needs?
