  1. My bill was near $2M in 1996. I had been struck by a car after exiting a schoolb bus as a nine year old. Suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and lived at hospital for about eight months--couple of months in ICU and the remaining in recovery/therapy. Had it not been for my Dad's employer covering the costs, I don't know where I would've ended up. The healthcare system here is ridiculous!

There was a story of a girl who got stabbed who chose to call Uber to drive her to hospital rather than an ambulance.
