It depends on the shop and the transmission maintenance history. These flushes do work but most shops do not replace the transmission filter and gasket. They run clean fluid through a dirty filter. They allege the flush cleans out the dirty filter, not completely true. Often times, we replace the transmission filter or clean out the screen, clean the pan magnets and perform 2-3 partial drops of transmission fluid on a high mileage transmission. If it less than 100,000 miles we recommend the flush in addition to replace the serviceable filter (not the screen). Out here in the SW part of the US, we recommend this service every 30-35,000 miles to due the extreme heat.

Out here in the desert SW, we suggest checking their A/C Freon every 5 years, servicing their transmissions (replace serviceable filter) and flush their cooling systems (depending on their mileage) in the early Spring BEFORE our scorching Summers. The heat puts an additional strain on a vehicle. From late May to early September, our shop is swamped with these areas in their cars. If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail!
