Aron, er.. to become citizen in ANY country you need to speak the langyage, so the NL is no special snowflake here, and having been there ( well just last week actually ), I have colleagues born in the NL with foreign parents, they speak 3 languages at a time and everywhere and whenever . and i do hear foreign languages everywhere even in the NL countryside .

  12. er.. if you memorize a few sentences, repeat them when those are needed. That is not understanding a language . You'll need to be able to read and understand a work contract in that foreign language and be able to give a "blemish" free feedback in return.
