84% of Senate Dems voted for the $15 minimum wage. The word you want is "Republicans". Republicans killed the $15 minimum wage.

@ChrispyNut I'll agree to disagree on the first point. You could be right; I'm just uncomfortable with the idea of reducing transparency in our government. As for your second comment, that extends outside of the committees and into the full House/Senate vote. If we don't know anything our representatives are voting for, how do we make sure we're picking good representatives? Just by what they say? That seems pretty unreliable. We aren't going to get a more well informed public if there isn't more information available to them.

Could be some of both. It's hard to deny the correlation between union membership and higher wages though.

That's a very tempting offer lol

@chrisbuck7520 Do you have any proof that Dems pressured the publisher to stop publishing certain books? Or is that just wild speculation?

He voted in favor of it. Every Democrat except for one did.

This seems like an unnecessarily roundabout way of fixing the real problem, which is lobbyists. Can we not just ban corporate and/or large donations? I think people should be able to confirm what their representatives are voting for if they want to.

Yes? He did vote in favor of the COVID bill that included the $15 minimum wage, as well as the 2019 minimum wage bill.

The $15 minimum wage got 84% support from Senate Dems. As part of the COVID bill, 99% of House Dems voted for it. The standalone minimum wage bill in 2019 got 97% of House Dems' votes. There no evidence to support the idea that Dems don't want to increase the minimum wage.

@1massboy Kamala did override the parliamentarian; that's why they took a vote to decide if the minimum wage should stay in the bill. As for Manchin, Sinema, and the other 6 Dems who voted against the minimum wage increase, they deserve all the criticism they get. And Biden should have pressured them more. But it seems weird to blame the Dems for not lining all of this up without acknowledging that every Republican voted against the minimum wage increase and the COVID relief bill. You want the real problem? There it is. And we've been complaining that Congress isn't getting anything done. Blocking this bill for the slim chance of putting in the minimum wage would mean more of Congress not getting things done. People need the COVID relief. And having a vote against it on the record would be terrible for one's re-election campaign. Push the COVID relief out, then keep working on the minimum wage. The last thing we need is for lefties to disengage and give up seats to Republicans that are encouraged to make things worse for ordinary Americans.

We felt abused before Trump; that's what made a lot of people vote for him in the first place. I would argue we've been getting abused since Reagan took office.

175? The House just passed the PRO Act with 1 Democrat voting against it.

@Exsanguinator-bld What kind of argument is that? Enforceability has no effect on whether or not a law should exist. Get it passed and then if we need to make the enforcement better, we'll make the enforcement better.
