The $15 minimum wage has majority approval among voters. What you see here is representatives not representing the wishes of their people.

@johnnyzeee5215 That's literally what regulation is for. Before the minimum wage, businesses ran sweatshops that included child labor. Because they could. The minimum wage of 1968, if it kept pace with productivity, would be worth over $20 today. The money's there. Businesses just don't pay it because they don't feel like it. And if this is like a "middle class lives matter too" thing, yes, middle class workers deserve a big pay bump too. We need large scale collective bargaining. We need rules limiting executive pay compared to worker pay. Other countries have figured this out. If we're going to call ourselves the greatest country, we should be able to figure it out too.

Are they making $15? And if they are, what would it hurt to raise the minimum wage to $15?

For reference, the current living wage in the US is $14.85. That's for a single person household in the average state, according to the MIT living wage calculator.

@johnnyzeee5215 That never stopped us from increasing the minimum wage before. Costs are already going up anyway. And a 15-hour job at $15/hr pays more than a 30-hour job at $7.25/hr. A consumer-based economy like ours requires consumers that can actually afford to buy things. Keeping wages down to get a few more millionaire executives isn't really helpful. And none of that is relevant to your original point, which is that people don't want it. They do. Florida literally voted for it last year.

@HTownCharlieBrown Very helpful, thank you 🙄

@HTownCharlieBrown God forbid I defend politicians in a policital YouTube comment section lol. I just don't see what you wanted the Justice Dems to do. When they didn't force a vote on M4A, you were unhappy. When they did force a vote on the minimum wage, you were unhappy. It sounds to me like you just want to be unhappy. But you should be directing that at the politicians that are against our policies and the voters who enable them, not at your political allies.

Lol, how dare he......propose the exact bill that passed the House???? These moderate Dems are insane.
