  1. ​ @Fatherlost  The 2018 midterms had the highest turnout for a midterm in the last 100 years or so. 2022's turnout wasn't far behind. So it makes sense that 2020 Biden, 2020 Trump, 2024 Trump, and 2024 Harris would all outperform 2008 Obama in raw vote totals. More people are engaged in politics now.

  3. They aren't done counting. It looks like once they've counted everything, 2024 will be about 4 million votes short of 2020. Which coincides with 2022 turnout being slightly below 2018 turnout.

  5. Worth noting: This will be the 10th consecutive set of House elections won by the party that doesn't control the presidency. Over that time period, the incumbent party has lost every presidential election except 2012. According to Gallup, the last time a majority of Americans were satisfied with how things were going was January 2004. Americans are just very declinist these days, they're always unhappy, and they put the blame for that on the President. That's all that happened here.

  6. ​ @kingyellowman5762  It would've been a lot easier to pass with some Republican votes though. Being mad at the party in which 84% of Senators voted for your preferred policy is wild.
