One of the biggest factors in this deal was South Korea's industrial capability to produce these huge numbers of arms far faster than anyone else apparently could guarantee, for example they will get 180 of the 1000 tanks by the end of this year, just 5 months and almost 50 of the 650 mobile self propelled artillery pieces as well.

My mom worked at the Vancouver Kaiser shipyards in Washington State, they built like 50 escort carriers in less than 18 months!

There is a video of a pair of Wagner tanks and other armored vehicles with barrels aimed at the Ministry of Defense HQ in Rostov.

They are sensitive about criticism of people like Hugo Chavez, he is a hero to a lot of people in places like Silicon Valley, champagne Socialists

@EdNashsMilitaryMatters Do not apologize this is terrifying, I do not understand how stupid people can be, I guarantee there will be horrific tragedies that will follow suit. Well done Ed bringing this to light.

Could some of the 20,000+ foreign volunteers be a stop gap solution for some of this equipment? The vast majority are military veterans (Ukraine cut off non military veteran acceptance within days) and the vast majority of the volunteers came from Western militaries, some of them have to be familiar with these weapons systems, Ukraine could use them as trainers, train the trainers type system where months could be reduced to weeks. If not enough experienced soldiers exist on these systems among the Ukrainian Foreign Legion then hire contractors to train troops. Ukraine could really use some Leopard 2's or Abrams both of which exist in large numbers and they could really use some F-18's, F-16's, Panavia Tornadoes, Western attack helicopters, not to mention air defense systems etc.

YES, read the Rand report for the Australian AF on the F-35, it is not kind. The Gripen is outstanding VSTOL and cheap.
3
Keep in mind the Kurds destroyed older model probably poorly maintained Leopards

The F-35 is grossly overpriced considering its problems (see Rand report to Australian AF) it is NOT "definitively the superior aircraft" and I am American saying that, it looks as if the UK is cutting down on F-35 orders as is the USAF, both are looking for other options. Logical choice is the Gripen, it is an outstanding VSTOL aircraft with supercruise option all for far less than even the F-18E. Honestly after reading some reports about the F-35's capability issues, it terrifies me as an American that we and so many of our allies are relying so heavily on it, IMO it is very valuable for our Amphibious Assault carriers and our allies small carriers because of its VTOL capability and probably for what the Marines use it for in forward operating bases but beyond that I see no proper role for it. All the information on the F-35 that making the UK and USAF re-think the F-35 were available years ago, I feel political pressure $$$$ is what pushed the F-35 in the door as a mass replacement for the inexpensive F-16, something the Gripen would have been the perfect option for.
3
Like hell were going to replace the A-10, that is blasphemy
3
LMAO too funny

The logical choice is the Gripen, Ireland and Sweden have a close relationship, it is not that expensive and Saab offers a lease program. The other one would be the awesome old F-5. The Irish would face HELL from the West if they chose a Chinese product. FYI Drakken purchased a bunch of Australia's F-18's. Hiring contractors to defend yourself would be humiliating but the Irish government loves to humiliate Ireland so its a possibility.

If we know anything about Indian Defense plans they change regularly under the best of circumstances let alone the current situation with a full blown cold war with China getting warmer every day.
2
Swedes make the best non nuclear subs, quiet as you can get, hopefully they are helping them. World just needs to walk up to China and bitch slap them.

The only good communist is a dead communist

I thought those Danish F-16's were supposed to go to Ukraine? Biden Administration seems determined to keep Ukraine from winning, they still refuse to even send the 21 Mig-29's the US owns. Britain is literally pushing Argentina into the arms of China.
2
I saw this and thought Washington Stat folks had finally had it with authoritarian marxism.

Terrifying that we are allowing AI to decide when and if humans should be killed

The F-5 was a bad ass dog fighter

US already did tests and it took an average of four months.

Xi is a lunatic bent on creating some kind of Chinese Empire, he is not like previous Chinese leaders, he does NOT play the long game for China, he plays the short game for Xi

Very few in India seem in love with the Tejas. My guess is the AF will adopt the Gripen for the time being, high quality and less expensive than competitors so more can be purchased. Indian Navy seems unable to make a quick decision 50/50 they will stick with problematic Mig 29 or go with F-18. India also needs to start building or buying Amphibious Assault carriers to keep pace with China and should surpass them by putting some F-35B's on them.

Biden and many other NATO leaders have been doing their best impression of Neville Chamberlain, afraid to upset Putin, either be in or out. Send some Abrams and work out with Ukraine American and allied volunteers that are familiar to help crew them also there are a ton Leopard 2's floating around the world that could be sent in numbers that matter. They do not just need tanks they need more anti air systems and those Mig-29 and Su-25 jets, sadly Eastern Europe only has 14 Su-25's they could send but they have 56 Mig-29's and the US owns an additional 21 of them they could send.

@EdNashsMilitaryMatters Agreed bud, good stuff

Better be ready, WW3 is coming.

Perhaps the Argentines would not get snotty about the situation if the Brits were not intransigent dicks about it, I mean come on it has been 40 effing years, they are no threat, their economy is in a shambles after decades of incompetent Leftist rule. Honestly do you expect them to say "thank you may I have another" after you kick them in the nuts for the tenth time? Be freaking reasonable, if it were up to the Brits to decide then Germany, Japan and Italy would still be using horse and buggy 85 years after WW2, and the British wonder why different people around the world hold a grudge against them for so long.

@Inkling777 We will not make it through this one without it going hot, the Chinese lack the restraint of the Russians, they must always save face.
1
It never made it because of US AF Generals pathological obsession with BIG, BIGGER, BIGGEST!!! (I think they may be compensating for something?). The F-5 was a bad ass little fighter and still is when updated with modern electronics and weapons systems in the package known as the F-5AT (Advanced Tiger) version. The US State Department are a bunch of Marxist traitors. Carter what a effing incompetent disaster.
1
Yep the Socialists are more interested in power and punishing political opposition than the country's national security.
