  1. Funny you mention "community Karens." Back when I worked part-time maintenance at a condo development, there was this elderly lady who’d walk her dog around, all smiles and small talk. Behind the scenes, she was a full-time informant running a secret snitch operation straight to the office manager. If you so much as breathed wrong, she had a complaint ready.

  2. Yea, I notice many of those 55+ communities trick you with lower prices on the physical house (or condo) but charge excessive HoA fees and land lease fees.

  3. My search for that small vacation home in a sunnier area continues. I found this one in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It's more of a backup choice because I don't think it is worth $90k for a condo built in the 1960s. But the HoA fee covers everything except electricity and internet.
