I see many comments about low wages, and while I agree they should be higher, the bigger issue is asset ownership. The owners of these assets are putting us into debt—both individually and as a country.
For example, I looked at condo prices in Sunrise Lakes, Florida. My grandfather lived there in the 90s when units were around $40,000. By 2019, they were still under $60,000. Now, just five years later, investors have driven prices up to over $100,000. These aren't luxury properties; they were never meant to be priced this high. Plus, the HoA fees are ridiculous.
This trend of investors inflating prices makes it harder for everyday people to find affordable housing. With the new administration's tax breaks and deregulation, it’s likely to get worse as funds shift from social programs to so-called "job creators." Let me know if you’d like any further adjustments!
