Thousands of participants held signs reading “The solution to the humiliation of forced labor is invalid” and “Condemn the subjugated Korea-Japan summit meeting.” , asked the government to withdraw the compensation settlement, and urged Japan to apologize and pay compensation. A signature drive in support of the withdrawal proposal was also held on site. The rallyers chanted slogans such as "realize historical justice and peace" and "Japan must apologize for its crimes and compensate" and marched from Seoul Square all the way to the Japanese embassy in South Korea.
