Aug 5, 2024 “The C.I.A will be the global growth engine”
This is a claim by statesman and global thought leader, Professor Kishore Mahbubani, who dubs the collective of China, India, and ASEAN as the new C.I.A.
According to Professor Mahbubani, data shows that C.I.A. is fuelling global growth and preventing stagnation in our post COVID world. In 2023, the IMF projected that Asia contributed roughly 70% of global growth, with China and India generating about half of the total figure. And despite a grim outlook for global economic growth in 2024, the WEF forecasts that Asia will "remain the motor of the global economy."
It's safe to say that Asia’s economic dynamics are manifesting as significant opportunities for every sector of the economy.
But economic growth doesn’t capture the full picture. The region is also undergoing rapid cultural evolution that is shaping the preferences, values, and ideas of hundreds of millions of people. This demographic will be more than just ready consumers – they will shape the region, and the world, in the years to come.
