One of the most significant aspects of this collaboration is the supply of gas turbine engines for the Indian Navy. These engines, which power a range of Indian warships, are manufactured by Ukraine’s state-owned company Zorya-Mashproekt. As India’s naval capabilities continue to expand, the importance of reliable and high-performance propulsion systems cannot be overstated. During the visit, the two leaders are expected to explore ways to enhance this partnership further. According to sources from Bloomberg, Zorya-Mashproekt is currently in talks with Indian private sector companies to jointly manufacture gas turbines in India. This potential collaboration could lead to significant technological transfer and bolster India’s indigenous defense manufacturing capabilities. The joint production of gas turbines would not only ensure a steady supply for the Indian Navy but also contribute to India’s broader “Make in India” initiative, which aims to reduce dependence on foreign imports by fostering local manufacturing.

The Indian Air Force’s (IAF) large fleet of An-32 military transports, which was slated for an upgrade under a 2009 contract, has been particularly impacted. The Antonov plant produces the model. The contract involved upgrading 40 aircraft in Ukraine and another 65 in India under Ukrainian supervision. However, the supply chain has been disrupted due to Russia’s refusal to supply spare parts. Due to this the last five of the 40 aircraft that were to be upgraded in Ukraine are reportedly stuck in Kyiv, and the local upgrade in India was stalled due to the departure of Ukrainian engineers and the shortage of spare parts.

Why don't tell the truth ? This visit has nothing to do with peace. The engine for India war ship ordered before the youkrain drama still in youkrain. Modi try to get them. The Zorya-Mashproekt complex in Mykolaiv, vital for the production of turbines used by navies worldwide, including India’s, was targeted by Russian forces in March 2022, severely crippling its operational capabilities. The ongoing war has only exacerbated these challenges, with Mykolaiv’s strategic location making it a frequent target of shelling and infrastructure damage. The impact on Zorya-Mashproekt is particularly significant for India, which relies on these turbines for its warships. Modi’s visit to Kyiv offers a strategic opportunity for India to explore new avenues of cooperation with Ukraine. One potential area of collaboration is the establishment of joint ventures in India, where Ukrainian technicians can work alongside Indian counterparts to set up manufacturing units. Bharat Forge’s recent acquisition of a 51 per cent stake in Zorya’s India arm could be a foundation for such a partnership.

AH-64 Apache Stuck Near China Border, High Altitude Makes Chopper Recovery Difficult For Indian Air Force -August 21, 2024 It has been four months since a US-made AH-64 Apache heavy attack helicopter, known as “Tank in the Air,” got stranded in high altitude Ladakh region along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China following a ‘technical malfunction.’ The Indian Air Force (IAF) is said to be in touch with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Boeing to repair or recover the rotary craft, a task proving to be arduous due to its high altitude. The incident on April 4 is said to have occurred during an operational training sortie. Due to undulating terrain and high altitude, the helicopter reportedly experienced a ‘loss of power.’ The aircraft sustained damage during the mishap. It was the fifth incident in 2 months days involving an Apache helicopter worldwide. For a helicopter that has been operational for over four decades, it did spark air safety concerns.
