@VIDEOVISTAVIEW2020 MacArthur was pretty good at governing occupied Japan and he also was popular amongst the Filipinos, so he was useful for US foreign policy in that respect. As a field general he had some bright spots like Incheon, but he had a lot of issues, many of which were unforgiveable. In the end, his ego and his mouth got him fired when he crossed the president in public. Whatever you think of Truman, he tolerated no crap from his people like that.
