  1. Lately the USN has been naming LHAs and LHDs after battles. Amphibious assault ships that can also fulfill the role of small carriers using Harriers, F-35s, and helicopters.

  3.  @champagnegascogne9755  Wasp and Hornet are really old names that date back to the founding of the United States in the 1770s. Wouldn't surprise me if a new LHD gets named Hornet.

  4. Can't wait for the follow-up on this. That photo of the F-4 Phantom jets on the deck near the end is epic. The Essex class carriers also served long, into the 70s.
