@ahorsewithnoname643 The US squadrons that operated Mosquitos were given a new role as heavy bomber squadrons and equipped with B-29's.

I knew the USAF used them but I didn't know there were still some B-57's actively flying.

Even better is when it spools up! Standing on the flight line with a fire extinguisher while that beast spins up, and the forward nozzle wash starts flapping your pant legs.

@bigwoody4704 No, it wasn't bugs. The baseline B-29 cannot fit a Fatman-type atomic bomb in its bay because of the wing spar. The AAF had to get the manufacturer to redesign the bomb bay for it to carry the weapon, and these later models were called "Silverplates". Of course, the later B-50 version of the Superfortress was built from the start to incorporate all the improvements of the B-29 and served well into the 1950s.

You should do a video on the DC-3 and variants, including the Japanese C-47s that saw service in WWII. I was surprised to read that Showa and Nakajima managed to build C-47's under license from Douglas before the US and Japan were at war with each other. Also, as a former Harrier tech I love that jet and am happy its still in service for now.

@bigwoody4704 Only the Silverplate birds were nuclear-capable.

@alfnoakes392 Yep.

If it makes you feel better we Marines appreciate them and out them to good use. It pains me to see the Harrier finally facing the end of its service life in the next few years, but it's been around a long time and seen lots of combat as both the Sea Harrier and the AV-8B Harrier II, so I'd say the US and UK got their money's worth.

The USN should've lined up and shot the guys in BuOrd responsible for that torpedo fiasco. They got a lot of guys killed.
