  2. Not a crazy idea, but ahead of its time and poorly executed. The Germans did have guided weapons that actually worked against allied ships, truly high tech for the 40s. The V2 ballistic missile was open loop guided via gyroscopes but was also just a bit too far ahead of its time to be practical. Too long to prep for launch, finicky propellants to work with, not accurate enough for a high explosive warhead, and even if small nuclear warheads would've been available for it it wasn't terribly reliable. The Americans and British were ahead in electronics technology, such as radar and the television systems used on these B-17 drone bombs, but nobody was quite there yet with these advanced weapons.
