  1. LVTs were used by British troops during the Suez Crisis. The troops in one such craft found their LVT was moving ahead of the others and wondered why. It was not until the LVT got on land and came under fire that they discovered why it moved so fast. It turned out the crew had removed the LVTs armour in order to get ashore quicker. So once on land thoughts and prayers and hopes and dreams was all the armour they had.
