What is it with Germany trying to build the biggest war machines. Had Hitler invented the Top Trumps card game but could not sell it until Germany had the biggest aircraft, ships, tanks, guns et cetera. Or was Hitler compensating for something. I must admit to being staggered when I first read that German scientists and engineers would be sent to the Eastern Front when projects were cancelled. It's like no one was thinking about the countries future needs. There was a high ranking meeting in the spring of 1943 where defence projects which would not be finished within a year were cancelled and many of the scientists and engineers were shipped off to the Eastern Front. Then a year later there was this realisation that many of the projects they cancelled were after all needed. Such as the surface to air missiles needed to take on the waves of USAAF B17s and B25s.
