I did come across a video on YouTube of a former USN officer who took part in the salvage of one of the ships. It gives an interesting account of what it was like to carry out the salvage and the things they had to do to raise the ship. One thing I did find interesting was the contribution the ships captain made to the sinking of the ship this officer was on. Apparently on Saturday 6th December the captain had all the portholes and watertight doors opened ready of working on the ship on the Monday. So when she was hit during the attack there was nothing to stop the water flood the ship and sinking her.
